Giants Women vs St Helens | Match Report

Huddersfield Giants Women were defeated 60-6 by St Helens at the Totally Wicked Stadium in the Betfred Women's Super League.

Former Giant Erin Stott was the first to cross the line, Leah Burke starting the first of her 4-try triumph with Luci McColm completing her brace.

A dire start for the Giants, the left edge was continually exposed for the lack of numbers which allowed the Saints to break in.

Phoebe Hook’s effort in the corner from a towering Faye Gaskin kick and Georgia Sutherland’s uncharacteristic forward run added 2 tries to the Saints’ tally to round off the first half.

Left with some work to do, the Giants made a bid to close the 38-0 gap they suffered going into the sheds.

Amelia Brown sprung into action with a clean dash from the halfway line. Brushing off defenders in her way, Brown touched down under the sticks to provide Frankie Townend an easy conversion.

They were the only points of the Giants’ afternoon, Saints added 22 with Tara Jones and Katie Mottershead adding their names to the scoresheet.
